TRAVELER'S DREAM - A CELTIC MIDWINTER CELEBRATION!

Step in from the cold and enjoy the warmth and beauty of traditional Celtic carols sung by Traveler's Dream, one of the Midwest's finest acoustic music duos. The band, comprised of Denise Wilson and Michael Lewis, will appear at _____ (place) on ______ (date) beginning at ______ (time). For ticket prices or other information, call _____.

With rich and expressive voices and a wide array of traditional and modern instruments, Traveler's Dream captures the festive cheer of the holidays as well as the beauty and quiet mystery of the winter season. Listeners enjoy the diverse tapestry of sound that is created by different combinations of vocal harmonies, guitar, Irish flute, mandolin, concertina, bouzouki, and tin whistle. The unusual instrumentation and creative arrangements breathe new life into familiar favorites, but Lewis and Wilson also include some nearly-forgotten musical gems that were once popular in the Celtic world. The songs span several hundred years and many cultures.

Classic favorites rooted in Old World Europe include the English carols "I Saw Three Ships" and "Good King Wenceslas." From Wales comes "Deck the Halls," and from France "Bring a Torch, Jeannette, Isabella" (sung in the original French version). Nestled seamlessly alongside these traditional carols are original songs written by Michael Lewis. His poetic lyrics will strike a chord with everyone who shares his love of midwestern winter landscapes and his appreciation of the magical qualities of the winter season.

More than talented multi-instrumentalists, Lewis and Wilson are also dynamic performers who charm audiences with their spontaneous humor, storytelling skills, and enthusiasm for the music they play. Their authenticity and warmth fully engages listeners-pulling them into a circle of shared experience that is as unexpected and refreshing as the music itself. Always uplifted by the very tangible connection that she feels with audiences, Wilson says "I always look forward to the end of the program when voices from the audience join without hesitation to sing along with us on Robert Burns' Auld Lang Syne."

If you can't join the Celtic Midwinter Celebration, you can still enjoy many of these songs on Traveler's Dream's most recent CD entitled Cold Blows the Day: Songs and Carols of the Winter Season. You can learn more about the band, hear music samples, or purchase recordings at www.travelersdream.net
